LAUREN SLOAN NAMED FEMALE FIELD ATHLETE OF WEEK

HIGH POINT, NC--Anderson University's Lauren Sloan has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's field Athlete of the Week during week number two in the 2009 outdoor season. The Trojan track and field team competed in the Emory University Invitational over the weekend. Sloan finished in second place in the women's shot put prelims with a personal best throw of 41-08.50; she then went to the final round and her 41-08.50 was good enough for an overall 2nd place finish in the event. As if it weren't enough for the freshman from Reynoldsburg, OH, she then moved on to the women's discus portion of the weekend meet. Sloan qualified for the finals, then launched a season long throw and grabbed a fifth place finish. That fifth place finish proved to be vital, as Sloan helped AU to garner four very important points leading her Trojan team to an eleventh place overall finish at the Emory Invitational in Atlanta, GA.
