
Wear Pink! Trojan Athletics to Support Breast Cancer Awareness
October 13, 2011ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University Athletics Department has designated Saturday as a Breast Cancer Awareness day by wearing pink at all athletic events.
Anderson plays host to South Atlantic Conference opponent Tusculum College in men’s and women’s soccer action at Trojan Stadium, starting at 1 p.m., while the AU volleyball team squares off against Brevard at 1 p.m. and Francis Marion at 5 p.m. at the Abney Athletic Center. The softball alumni game at Smethers Field is slated for a 1 p.m. first-pitch.
Literature with information on breast cancer will be available to everyone and free pink ribbons and wristbands will be given to fans in attendance.
Fans are asked to wear pink to Saturday’s games.
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. Today, the Foundation is an international organization with a network of volunteers working through local affiliates and events like the Komen Race for the Cure® to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.
