ATLANTA – The Anderson softball team extended its win streak to eight games with a doubleheader sweep past Clark Atlanta, 8-0 and 7-1, Wednesday afternoon.
Anderson recorded 30 hits, including nine for extra bases en route to improving to 8-2 on the season, while surrendering just the one run off four hits by the Panthers.
Anderson 8, Clark Atlanta 0 (5 innings)
Freshman hurler Larissa Ostapiak surrendered just one hit over five innings, while facing just one batter over the minimum as she earned her first shutout for the Black and Gold. She also fanned nine batters and did not issue a walk.
Freshman second baseman Jessica Neidigh went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and knocked in three runs, while scoring once. Sophomore Danielle Swygert also went 3-for-4 and scored a run, while Charlotte Sieber added two hits in three at-bats, scored twice and recorded an RBI. Sophomore Laura Jansky notched a pair of singles in three times at the plate.

Senior Amber Duncan improved to 4-0 in the circle, scattering three hits and giving up just one earned run over seven innings. The right-hander struck out six and walked just one.
Sophomore Stephanie was a perfect 2-for-2 off the bench in the nightcap, notching a pair of singles and scoring a run. Neidigh was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk and scored twice, while Duncan helped herself by going 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in a run. Freshman Rachel Rhodes added a single and a double in three at-bats and sophomore Abby Child blasted her second home run of the season in the first inning.
Anderson opens its home slate by hosting Coker on Saturday, with first-pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. at Smethers Field, while St. Andrews visits AU on Sunday afternoon with start time also at 1 p.m.
