
Goss and Hesse Named to the AFCU Gold Standard
October 2, 2012ANDERSON, S.C. – Women’s soccer forward Krystal Goss and men’s soccer goalkeeper Lukas Hesse have been named to the Anderson Federal Credit Union Gold Standard for their outstanding performances in the month of September.
Goss, a junior from Newry, S.C., leads the Trojans with four goals and five assists and is tied for the team lead with 19 shots. She has placed nine shots on goal for a .474 shot on-goal percentage and is second in the South Atlantic Conference with her five assists on the season. Goss is fifth in the league with 13 points and tied for sixth with four goals. She scored a goal and handed out a pair of assists in the win past Converse and followed up with two goals and an assist in the 4-0 shutout of Erskine.
She is 33rd nationally in total assists and ranks 35th in the country, averaging 0.56 assists per game.
Hesse’s performance during the month of September has the preseason first-team all-conference selection ranked 36th in the nation with his 41 saves on the season. The native of Berlin, Germany, ranks second in the league in saves and 82nd nationally in saves per game.
The 6-foot-2 keeper recorded a season-high 11 saves at UNC Pembroke and has notched 12 career shutouts, including a clean sheet versus Brevard in mid-September.
