GREENVILLE, S.C. – Paced by senior Alex Pena, the Anderson men’s cross country team finished fourth at the 40th annual Gene Mullin Furman Cross Country Invitational Saturday morning at the Furman University Golf Course.
The event featured a new 5K distance this year, which marked the first time the Trojan men competed at the shorter distance this season, after running 8K’s each of their previous three outings.
Battling a field of eight teams, the Trojans trailed just Furman, Emmanuel and North Greenville, while outpacing Wofford, Brevard, Erskine and Fort Valley State.
Pena posted a time of 16:18.38 en route to finishing 19th, while Parks Edwards notched 20th with a time of 16:19.62. Sophomore Joshua Visi-Clark (16:29.26), who led AU in two of their previous three meets, finished 23rd and junior Kyle Koby (16:47.89) crossed the line in 27th.
