QUARTERFINALS SET FOR VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The field for the 2007 Confernce Carolinas Tournament was reduced to eight teams after three matches Monday night. The top five teams in the regular season -- Lees-McRae, Limestone, Coker, Anderson, and Mount Olive -- all received first-round byes. In Monday night's matches, Belmont Abbey beat Converse, 3-0; St. Andrews Presbyterian eliminated Queens University of Charlotte, 3-0; and Pfeiffer ended Barton's season, 3-0. The quarterfinals will be played Wednesday night at the top four seeds. No. 1 Lees-McRae will play host to Belmont Abbey, No. 2 Limestone will take on St. Andrews, No. 3 Coker will entertain Pfeiffer, and No. 4 Anderson will tangle with No. 5 Mount Olive. Anderson and Mount Olive split during the regular season. Each school won on its home court. Wednesday's four winners will advance to the semifinals Friday at Anderson. Friday's match times are 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The championship match will be played Saturday at 2 p.m. Admission Friday and Saturday will be $5.
