Niles Named to the D2CCA DII All-Region Second Team

ANDERSON, S.C.  Anderson University softball senior standout Cailah Niles has been named to the 2018 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Region Second Team, released late Monday afternoon.

Niles ranked first in the South Atlantic Conference in home runs (16) and tied for second with 55 RBI. The senior slugger batted .364 with a .768 slugging percentage ripping 11 doubles and one triple while drawing a team-high 27 walks. Niles earned All-SAC Second Team accolades and SAC All-Tournament Team honors.

The Phenix City native started all 48 games behind the plate this past season pushing her consecutive start total to 203 games. Niles has hit a career total of 63 home runs breaking both the Anderson all-time career record (47) and the SAC all-time career record (47) which was previously held by 2014 AU graduate Abby Child.

The voting, nomination and calculations are all conducted by the school's sports information directors. The teams are voted on by the members of D2SIDA, NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association.
