BLUFFTON, S.C. – Paced by senior Tiffany Elam's two-day 15–over-par 157, the Anderson women's golf team jumped from 11th place following Monday's first round to claim sixth place Tuesday at the Low Country Invitational, which was hosted by Wingate at the 5,843 yard, par-71 at the Crescent Pointe Golf Club layout.
Western Michigan won the team title by four shots over Flagler, while UNC Pembroke slipped from second and finished third. Lander moved up one spot and claimed fourth place, while Newberry jumped from seventh to fifth. The Trojans, who were 11th following Monday's opening round, vaulted all the way into sixth, with the host Bulldogs finishing seventh.
Lenoir-Rhyne and Catawba finished in a deadlock for eighth, with Queens, Tusculum and Wingate B finishing out the 12-team field after Chowan did not finish.
Western Michigan's Jasmine Chee, who began the day one shot off the pace in third place, outlasted Lander's Hannah Stephenson in a playoff to claim individual medalist honors. WMU's Claire Hernandez was one shot further back in third.
Elam carved six shots off Monday's opening round to finish in a tie for 16th place, with freshman Kerrington Lamb sharing 20th place after carding a two-round 159. Junior Kate Hill jumped 10 spots after trimming five strokes off her first-round effort and shared 27th place, alongside freshman Victoria Hall, who slashed seven shots off her first-round score. Anna Freeman finished in a tie for 38th place after slicing nine strokes from her first round.
Following a two-week break, the Trojans will get back in action on March 18-19 at the Coker Cobra Spring Invitational in Hartsville, S.C.
